TRYPSIN is highly valued as a workhorse protease across various industries due to its potent digestion of proteins. A naturally occurring pancreatic enzyme, TRYPSIN plays a key role in the human digestive system. TRYPSIN is synthesized by the pancreas as an inactive precursor and, once activated, contributes to protein digestion by cleaving peptide bonds at the carboxyl-terminus of lysine and arginine amino acids. This action breaks proteins down into smaller peptides, a functionality that can be used to effectively mimic the normal digestive processes of the gastrointestinal system.
Trypsin Grades
Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Research
The proteolytic action of TRYPSIN has been put to effective use across broad contexts, being both a mass spectrometry workhorse and meat tenderizer. In the production of vaccines, cells are detached from their vessels using TRYPSIN, cutting cell attachment proteins without harming the cells themselves. This proteolytic action is used in Whey Protein hydrolysis, making amino acids more readily bioavailable for muscle repair and recovery.
